Calcium propionate is white crystalline particle or crystalline powder, with slightly propionic acid odor. It is a kind of acidic preservatives. In acidic conditions, it produces unbonded propionic acid and it has bacteriostasis function. The bacteriostasis function is affected by PH value. Calcium propionate is stable to heat and light, easily soluble in water. It is widely used in bread, cookie, cheese and other foods as preservative, in feed industry as antiseptic and mineral additives.

Food grade calcium propionate has three grade with different moisture:
Food grade with moisture 9%Max;
FCC5 grade with moisture 5% Max;
E**2 grade with moisture 4%Max
